Garnam: Adventure Awaits

So today I heard about yet another online writing community, called Movellas (for reasons unknown to me). For the past couple of days I've been thinking on a new story idea. So what do I do? Combine them. The new story is called "Garnam" (just a name I came up with that I thought sounded cool) and its kind of a mideval magic story. It's available on both Figment and Movellas if you want to check it out. Here are the links.

http://figment.com/books/501407-Garnam

http://www.movellas.com/book/read/201212240007402405

The following picture was supposed to be the cover for this story, but it was too wide to get both the cover and the character on the same page, so I had to end up looking for a new cover. I thought this one was awesome. I wish it could have worked.

Anyway, as this picture shows: in Garnam, adventure is just around the corner. Go read it to find out why!

Oh, and on another similar note, I am entering the Scholastic 2013 Writing Awards with an excerpt from "Follow the Raven." Wish me luck!

What is Minecraft, and who is Herobrine?

So my brother is really into Minecraft. I don't know exactly what it is...best I can figure is that it's a building game where everything is cube-shaped. I haven't seen any circles. Everything is made of blocks. Even the sun and clouds are blocks. Anyway, he keeps trying to show me stuff that he's built, and I do look at some stuff, but since I'm not into building I'm never really that impressed. (Until he built our house on Minecraft. THAT was pretty good.)

Anyway, getting to the story. For the past two weeks he's convinced me to watch some Minecraft music videos. Two weeks ago he showed me three different ones. Ever since then I've had the one called "Revenge" stuck in my brain every other day and I've had to listen to it a lot just to get it out. I find myself humming it when I'm focusing on math or Spanish. Here's the link if you want to listen/watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPJUBQd-PNM

Then last week he showed me another one, called "Cube Land." Again, I've had it stuck in my head ever since. Good thing the song is catchy and has an interesting video. I guess this one is what finally got me interested in Minecraft and the only reason I'm typing this post: the mysterious character Herobrine that was featured in the video. He apparently looks like the character you start with, Steve, only his eyes are empty and glow in the dark. Kadin says he can control lighting. I don't really know much, but in doing some research I've discovered that he's a really big mystery. He is apparently not supposed to exist, and many don't believe he does, but others have caught him in their single-player worlds. Sometimes he just stands there and stares while other times he'll chase you and try to kill you. He's a very controversial subject, I guess you could say. In any case, Herobrine is what finally drew my attention to the game my bro likes so much.

Why am I drawn to characters like this? I don't know for sure. I was drawn to Shadow and Raphael and Antauri in the same kind of way - they each have some sort of mystery about them or puzzle that I just have to solve. I guess Herobrine is kind of similar in that respect.

Well, that's my life so far. I'm REALLY ready for Christmas break. My homework tonight took me a whopping hour and a half. Usually I'm only working for 45 minutes at the most. I guess that's what I get for missing a day. Two days = two times the homework. Fun...NOT.

On the plus side, I'm going to play some Sonic racing with my bro. He like never wants to play it with me so I'm going to take advantage of this oppurtunity. But first I owe Sonic a race from five-ish weeks ago...

12/12/12

I figured since today is 12/12/12 my blog deserved a post. This is the last time something like this will happen for a while.

To update on my last blog: I didn't win the Costa Rica trip, but my Spanish teacher really wants me to go on the 2014 trip. I told him I'd consider it. He's been on to me about it since I first met him last year. Haha

I just passed my one-year anniversary on Wattpad. My stats are pretty impressive, considering that they are more than my other four writing sites added together. 55 fans, 20 readers (yes, there is a difference between the two), 65 votes, 89 comments, and 2,900+ reads. All based on one book. Score!

Everyone knows about One Direction's song "What Makes You Beautiful," right? You should listen to this cover band I found a while back. They're called Cimorelli, and they are made of awesome! Have a listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyNkNWQAewQ

In other news, I've decided to enter the first 50 pages of "Follow the Raven" in the 2012 Scholastic Writing Awards. The deadline is January 5, so I need to see our school's writing teacher and get the thing squared away. I mean, how often does an aspiring author get to have her book read by Scholastic publishers without having to have a Facebook first? YEAH!!

Is anyone else ready for Christmas break? I know I am! Here's a Chistmas picture for you:

Happy 12/12/12! :)

Solos and Español

Since I haven't updated in a while, I figured I'd go ahead and start with some exciting news: I finally, finally got a solo in my choir class! The beginning of first song that my choir does is when I sing. And the best part is that since it's the Christmas concert, I get to do it twice. Once at 1:30 and again at 7:30. Woot!

In other news, the drawing for the free Costa Rica trip is tomorrow. When Señor Monaño did the mock drawing today, my name came out 5 in 7 times. How exciting is that? If I actually won for real I think I'd run around the school screaming with joy. Haha that would be so cool! I really love Spanish and hope to speak it fluently someday. I already watch movies in Spanish and listen to Spanish songs all the time. My MP3 player is in Spanish! :D

Christmas is coming up! Here's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for you! Or, as they say in Spanish, "Rodolfo el reno de la Nariz Rojo." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwOlagOGOS0

Follow the Raven: One Year and Counting

Today I'm celeberating the one-year anniversary of my current project, "Follow the Raven." I began writing it on November 25, 2011 and am still working on it today. I'm about halfway through the second draft. I've changed some things around, but I think it's still a great story. I'm really proud of how it turned out. FUN FACT: I began writing the story because I knew exactly how I wanted it to end. I had no idea what the story would be leading up to that point, but I knew how I wanted it to end and so I started brainstorming, which led me to where I am today. The book has a grand total of six characters.

For those who don't know, the story is about a 15-year-old girl named Amber who has always dreamed of being a famous singer. She is sent to Moonlight Cove, where Dreams go to live once they've been born. (FUN FACT: When I was in elementary school my bro and I had a game called "Speed Punks." One of the tracks you could race on was called Moonlight Cove. I loved the track so much I told everyone I'd write a story about it someday.) There Amber meets a girl named Cale, who changes her life forever. How? You'll have to read to find out!

By the way, I know that authors really aren't supposed to have favorite characters in their own books, but I do. My favorite character in "Follow the Raven" is Marc, a lone wolf who has been given the task of guarding Moonlight Cove from the villain, Lord Hendrix. (No, not the Jimmy Hendrix kind of Hendrix.) I can't find a good picture that depicts Marc as I imagine him, so this will have to do:

Meh. It's close enough. :)

With any luck "Follow the Raven" will be editor-ready soon. Once I finish the second draft I'm going to read through it again and make sure everything looks good. I'm going to keep editing until I have the best final product possible. I love this story and I love the characters. I really want this one to be published, but NOT to Kindle or Nook. I want a hardback copy. I've always wanted to hold a book I wrote in my hands. :)

Anyway, I've officially been working on this book for a year today. Woot!

Holy Series Finale, Megas! (No spoilers, I promise.)

So, thanks to Nick, I've seen every single episode of Megas XLR. (Even that stupid Sonic parody which I will NEVER watch again.) The finale just blew my mind - I was seriously surprised how it turned out, although the last five minutes of the last episode were totally Coop. Haha. I really liked this show, even if it was kind of stupid. My favorite character is Jamie, though I don't know exactly why. My favorite line in the entire series:

Coop: Well...I've fought things bigger than this before.

Jamie: No you haven't! It's a FREAKING PLANET!

Haha you should check it out sometime if you're really bored. This is the best cure for boredom ever. Viva las Megas! :)

Rise of the Shredder

My bro and I always watch the latest episodes of TMNT 2012 together. Ususally we watch them the day they come out, but sometimes we have to wait a few days later. I'm so glad we didn't have to wait for today's episode - the Shredder finally reveals himself to the Turtles! What started out as just another plan to stop the Kraang ended in a brutal fight between the Turtles and the Shredder. Literally. The poor guys got their butts kicked like nobody's buisness. According to Splinter they were lucky to have survived. I can't wait for next weekend now - I just HAVE to know what happens next!

The Black Comet (A Sonic Story for the non-Mobians)

Seven years ago today, the Black Comet collided with Mobius, unleashing an army of dark aliens called the Xorda who were intent on taking over the world and using the limited population of humans as an energy source for themselves. While the rest of the world was in chaos, the chief Xorda, Black Doom, sought out Shadow the Hedgehog and informed him of his true identity: he was half Xorda. Talk about scary! How would you like this guy as your father?

Needless to say, Shadow was surprised. At the bidding of the dark lord, he sought out the seven Chaos Emeralds so that he could finally learn why he was created. Due to the nature of the game, there are nine different endings, each ranging from hero to neutral to villain. My favorite is the Hero/Slightly Dark ending, where Shadow becomes the defender of Mobius while still retaining some of his darker side. It suits him. Haha

In the video games Shadow is seen as a last-resort ally while in the comics he is a complete hero and is viewed as the second great defender of Mobius. In fact, when Sonic the Hedgehog "died" in the storyline, Shadow rose up to rescue the planet from destruction. But that's a story for another time. In the meanwhile, check out this trailer for the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frhC6b_gFFU

And don't forget to keep an eye out for the Black Comet. If you see it drifting in the night sky, Shadow is coming!

That's Just Wrong

OK. I've noticed a lot of cartoon spoofs in Megas XLR. But the last episode I watched was just insulting. There have been brief Sonic references in past episodes but THIS reference just made me want to punch the smile right off that aardvark's face. FIRST look at Sonic:

And now look at this abomination, named "Augie the Aardvark":

Doesn't it make you want to punch something?! UURGH! It's all Nick's fault. If he hadn't gotten my dad to like the show and then get me hooked on it I wouldn't have had to see this horrible creation. UGH!! THAT is an episode I will not be watching again.

The REST of what I've seen, however, is simply addicting. My favorite character is Jamie. The poor guy is a total wimp but it's really funny! If you're ever looking for something to do in your spare time you should watch Megas XLR. (Just not the 5th episode of Season 2.)

Wreck-It Ralph!

I finally went to see Wreck-It Ralph today and it was AMAZING!! Sonic had six cameo appearances and one speaking line. It was over too soon. Eggman had a couple of appearances as well although he didn't have any lines. Besides that awesomeness it really was a great movie. It had a cute story. I want to see it again!! Maybe I can convince my dad to go with me once before it leaves our theater...haha :) If you haven't seen Wreck-It Ralph do it now!! This is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to see Sonic the Hedgehog on the big screen! :D

What the heck is Megas XLR?

The guys at my dad's computer shop are total nerds, just like me. Only they're into different kinds of things. Every time I'm there to work part-time they're watching a new show. They've varied from shows like Top Gear to Top Shot to BBC's Sherlock (AWESOME show, btw). Now, though, they're watching an animated series called Megas XLR. My dad told me a little about it and said I might like it, so he gave me about 20 episodes to watch on my laptop. On Saturday night I started watching them. I can't stop. I'm addicted. They're so stupid and they really don't have a plot, but the theme song is awesome and for whatever reason I just can't help but click on the next episode.

I blame Nick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGHy6mKLxVo

TMNT 2012 is Turning Out Great!

Obviously, as a TMNT fan, I've been watching the brand new series, which premiered on September 29. So far there have been seven episodes, and I've seen each of them several times over. (Except for today's). The first three episodes were great; however, the next two didn't have real plots and were borderline stupid. Then there was "Metalhead" and "Monkey Brains," which totally blew me away. Both focused on Donatello, the third of the four brothers. In episode six he was trying to develop a better weapon because, and I quote: "How am I supposed to fight advanced alien technology with a stupid stick?!" So Donnie attemped to create the ultimate ninja, Metalhead, and it totally backfired on him. Then today's episode came along. It was so cute! Donnie was trying to figure out how to get April to hang out with him and ended up getting his butt kicked while out on patrol with her. It was kind of funny and really sweet because April got after his brothers for teasing him about "getting beat up in front of his girlfriend." Lots of great Donnie x April moments in today's episode. They are so cute! I'm kind of worried for Casey Jones' appearance. I really hope he's not a teenager. That would totally kill the romance between Don and April. Although on the other hand it would be amusing to see the two fight over her. Oh, well. I guess we'll see. Anyway, TMNT 2012 is turning out great! I loved today's episode. I'll probably watch it again and again and again and...well, you get the idea. Haha :)

Ms. Paronto and the Hen

It was the funniest thing ever. I went to deliver Ms. Paronto's fundraiser stuff after school today, and when I entered her classroom she was in the middle of a kid's game. The object: catch the eggs the hen was laying. Poor Ms. Paronto wasn't doing so well. It was seriously funny! I told her I'd probably post this, but I forgot to mention that I was on my way to Rooster's when I left. I think she would have liked that. Haha

Halloween News / A Sonic Story for the non-Mobians

I dressed up as Princess Elise from the Sonic series today at school. I'm proud to say I didn't trip much, but I did get a purple stain on my dress right away in the morning. It really annoyed me, too. I didn't realize what had caused it until I rode the bus home in the afternoon - in the same seat that I had ridden that morning. There was bluish-purplish ink on the back of the seat in front of me. I must have brushed up against it when I got off this morning. *sigh* Oh, well. I was extra careful not to let something like that happen again all day. I was expecting more reactions from my friends about the dress (I've never worn a dress to school before today), but they all acted totally normal. My friend Cassie was an old woman, complete with a granny voice and walker. Brandi was the victim of a murder, and her killer was choking her all day. She made the costume herself and everyone really liked it. Outside of that no one I knew really dressed up. Although I did find it funny that Luke was a Japanese rice fields worker. He never used to dress up, but he's been doing more of it this year. I think he was supposed to be a wizard or something on superhero day for homecoming week. That looked pretty cool, too.

Princess Elise's story is kind of sad. If you've played/seen cutscenes from Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 you know this, but for those of you who don't this will enlighten you. Elise, princess of Soleanna, is attacked on the night of her kindom's festival of fire and rescued by Sonic the Hedgehog. Eggman continuously tracks her down and kidnaps her with the hope of gaining the power of the Flames of Disaster and stealing her Chaos Emerald, but Sonic always comes to her aid. Meanwhile, in the shadows, a dark hedgehog from the future works in the background to ruin everything. Mephiles, as he is called, uses a time-traveling hero to try and kill Sonic so that Elise will cry, thus releasing the Flames of Disaster. He is eventually successful, but with help from the Chaos Emeralds Elise is able to revive Sonic, and he joins with Shadow and Silver to save the day. When it's all said and done, though, Elise must blow out the Eternal Flame - the thing that started the whole adventure - in order to permanently destroy Mephiles. In doing so her memory is erased and she forgets about meeting and falling in love with Sonic. He doesn't forget her, though, and continues to make sure she's safe from the sidelines.

It's a sad yet beautiful story. Some of Sonic's greatest and best-known quotes come from that game. "Just smile," "Nothing starts until you take action," and "if you have time to worry, then run" are just a few. I still haven't beat the game...stupid Crisis City. Haha

We're watching "Rudy" in my Careers class sixth period. I've seen it before, of course, but I didn't known the signifigance of Sean Astin until now. I've now officially seen Lord of the Rings, in which he played Samwise, and (more importantly) he is also the voice of Raphael in the new TMNT 2012 series.

I never really paid attention to "Rudy" before because I'm not big into football, but now that I'm having to watch it in class I realize just how great of a movie it is. We aren't finished yet; we've still got about a half hour to go. I can't wait to see how it ends. (I mean, I know how it ends, but now that I'm actually paying attention I can't wait to see how it ends. Haha)

Guess what comes out on Friday, November 2? "Wreck It Ralph!" And guess who's making a special cameo appearance? SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!! Check out the poster:

See him back there with Eggman? Yeah, buddy! I so can't wait! I probably won't see it opening day or anything, but I am planning on seeing it in theaters and screaming like a fangirl when I spot Sonic (and Eggman). :D

Happy Halloween, everyone!

First Post Ever

Hey there. This is my first blog ever, created at the urging of my grandmom. Don't know what I'll post here yet. I guess we'll see. The title, "Endless Possibilities," was inspired by a song from a Sonic the Hedgehog game. Yes, I am a nerd, and I love it. Here's a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw2AdxyEkMI
Hope you guys enjoy my stories. I'll post more about myself as I learn how to use this Blogger thing. Up, over, and gone! (quote from "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog")
